Installing Site System Roles : Site Server

A site server is a unique site system role in Configuration Manager. This role cannot be manually added, nor can it be manually removed. This role is managed by the site server itself and will exist on any server that is serving as a site server in the hierarchy. When a site is installed, whether a Central Administration Site, primary site, or secondary site, it will be shown as having the site server role.

This role manages all functions of the site and interacts with all remote systems hosting site system roles for the site. The overall health of the site server role can be reviewed in the Monitoring node of the console and also by examining the site server logs generated.
