If you will be using Configuration Manager 2012 R2 for Endpoint Protection services, then you must install the Endpoint Protection point role. This role is available only at the CAS and requires that separate licensing be in place. Installing this role is very easy and simply enables the use of Endpoint Protection in the hierarchy.

1. Choose the server where the Endpoint Protection point will be located.
2. Select the role in the Add Site System Roles Wizard. Note that when you attempt to place a check mark in the role, you will see a popup notifying you of default configurations that will be set.
3. On the Endpoint Protection page, accept the license agreement.

4. Once all configuration is complete, click Next to proceed to the Microsoft Active Protection Service page, shown in Figure
5. On the Microsoft Active Protection Service page, read the description of the Active Protection Service membership, and choose what type of membership you would like, if any.
6. Once all configuration is complete, click Next through the wizard to complete installation.
